ABINGTON JOINT RECREATION PARK TRAIL - LEADERSHIP LACKAWANNA
CLARKS SUMMIT, PA
Recently, Leadership Lackawanna sponsored Walk the Lake Project at the Abington Area Recreational
Park.  The nature trail is half a mile, ADA accessible trail with educational signage connecting the parking
lot and a pavillion with scenic views of the lake.

 

A BRUSH WITH KINDNESS - HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
SCRANTON, PA
A program co-sponsored by Habitat for Humanity and Leadership Lackawanna that provides one-time repairs, home painting, and landscaping for low-income homeowners in Lackawanna County who need assistance to do necessary work to the exterior of their houses.

 

CEDAR AVENUE GATEWAY
SCRANTON, PA
Cedar Avenue Gateway is a conceptual layout of roughly four blocks.  Connecting South Side in Scranton to the downtown area of Scranton, McLane Associates created the initial concept design fro the gateway.  The
initial concept design includes; streetscape improvements, traffic calming, and gateway treatments.

 

 

CLARKS GREEN RAIN GARDEN
CLARKS GREEN, PA
Both aesthetically appealing and functional, the Clarks Green Rain Garden is a retrofit rain garden that will
handle storm water and run off water from an adjacent anti-skid and salt storage shed.  Essentially, the rain
garden will help protect nearby Landsowne Creek. The rain garden will become a template and catalyst for future rain gardens in the community.

 

COLONIAL MIDDLE SCHOOL
NORRISTOWN, PA
Colonial Middle School has decided to utilize their empty courtyard and transform it into a functioning outdoor classroom.  The outdoor area has been divided into separate pods to host children as they explore Science, Math and Art.  The outdoor classrooms, will give students a change of scenery and fresh air throughout the school day.

 

 

CROWLEY PARK LABYRINTH

SCRANTON, PA
A labyrinth located in the far right corner of Croley Park will make use of an open area at Crowley Park.  Walking a labyrinth is typically a meditate and contemplative act.  With a brick paver labyrinth, cost and maintenance will be minimal, but the appeal will be immense.

 

 

FELLOWS PARK
SCRANTON, PA
McLane Associates assisted the city of Scranton with preparation of a park concept and grant application to secure potential funding to rehabilitate this park in West Scranton.


 

KEYSTONE COLLEGE NATURE TRAIL
LA PLUME, PA
The Keystone College Nature Trail is 2.6 miles long which winds throughout the scenic Keystone College campus. Tree identification tags were installed along the entire trail to identify 38 trees species.

 

 

LACKAWANNA STATE PARK
NORTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA
A raingarden will be used as an educational tool to demonstrate a variety of concepts related to healthy
watersheds and the DCNR’s iConserve program which encourages citizens to take conservation personally.  Also, parking areas have been redesigned.

 

 

MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY - CARTER CREEK RESTERATION
SCRANTON, PA

Provided Marywood University with funding to support a creative, environmental restoration project to reconstruct the only remaining segment of Carter Creek. This Lackawanna subwatershed is impaired due to past anthropogenic impacts like mining and urbanization. The original watershed has been dissected over the last century and has been reduced to a storm flash channel.

 

MCDADE PARK - DISC GOLF COURSE
SCRANTON, PA
McLane Associates prepared a concept for the County of Lackawanna that outlined the potential for a disc-golf course within McDade Park.  While disc golf is a popular game in surrounding areas like New Jersey,  New York and parts of Pennsylvania, few opportunites exist to grow the game in Northeastern Pa.  This represents the first steps toward finally providing NEPA with a 9-hole disc golf course.  The course will guide the players around much of the parks scenic vistas, along trails, past athletic fields, and through wooded areas.
